William A. Parenti lectures frequently throughout North America and abroad. My question to Mr. Even if you don't agree with the viewpoint taken by Parenti, this book will help spark invaluable classroom discussions.

Very few hang around for years and only the greatest for decades. If we do not take action I fear that generations to come will not enjoy the benefits of democracy in its true form. Various writings of his have been translated into some twenty languages. I thought was happening and is backed up by good research.

If we do not take action I fear that generations to come will not enjoy the benefits of democracy in its true form. As the title, Democracy for the Few, implies, we have a contradiction in terms with regards to our understanding of American democracy says Michael Parenti, college professor and educator. Odd that slavery and women's suffrage are issues not discussed under the rubric of repression -- those seem pretty obvious, and make the case much more strongly than a handful of anecdotes. He sees our problems as endemic to our capitalist, corporate state.

About this title Parenti's provocative critique of class power within traditional political institutions will arouse classroom debate and introduce students to a unique viewpoint of American capitalism. By focusing on the relationship between economic power and political power, discussing actual government practices and policies, conspiracies, propaganda, fraud, secrecy and other ploys of government and politics, this book stands apart in its analysis of how US Government works.

Parenti argues that globalization undermines democracy. This same book could have the publication date and with a few name changes and an update here and there it would be on time and on the money.

Read it and weep. And it explains why democracy is still potentially the best form of government on earth -- and why democracies everywhere are sleepwalking their way into deep trouble. This in turn sparked a need for the United States to continually engage in military aggression around the world.
